FORMER HOWARD RESIDENT DEAD
Jacob Olson Died of Heart Failure At Fort Dodge Last Saturday Evening. Had Been in His Usual Good Health, Death Came Without Warning.
Jacob Olson (Overhus) died at his home at Fort Dodge on Saturday evening, June 8, 1912 while out in his garden working. He had been in his usual health when without warning he was seen to fall and died before aid could reach him, the cause of his death being heart failure.
The deceased was born in Norway and was about 68 years old. When but a young man he came to this country staying for some time in Clinton, Benton and Linn counties but came to Story County about 45 years ago and lived there until a few years ago and since that time he has been living with his children at different places most of the time, altho for the past few months, he had lived alone in a residence that he had erected at Fort Dodge. He leaves five children to mourn his death, they being Mrs. Nels Estrem of Radcliffe, Mrs. Annie McGinnis of Fort Dodge, Oneil, Christine and Josie, besides other relatives and friends.
The remains were brot to Roland, where on Monday the funeral was held from the Bergen church, Rev. G. Smedal preaching the funeral sermon. The remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery.
