***

Ted James Cumming, son of Thomas A. and Stella Cummings was born at State Center, Iowa, July 12, 1929. He lived all of his life at the present farm home, west of Colo, with the exception of a short time when his parents lived in town.

He attended Colo Consolidated school, graduating from high school with the class of 1947. Peopled in the surrounding communities will remember. Ted as the high point player on the basketball team on which he played for four years and as the third baseman on the baseball team. He was a member of the Student Council his senior year and a class officer earlier. He also had a part in the senior class play and sang in the boy's glee club his first two years of high school.

In addition to school activities he always worked hard on the farm. He was especially interested in 4-H projects, having prepared stock for the 4-H Fair.

He was a member of the Colo Methodist church and the Methodist Youth Fellowship and had made plans to attend the Young People's Institute at Indianola this month.

He was a young man of fine and likable personality, energetic and industrious, proved an able farm manager and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

Ted passed away Wednesday evening at Mary Greeley hospital as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident Tuesday evening. He is survived by his parents, one sister, Donna of Des Moines; two brothers, Thomas E., Seaman 1-c at the Naval Air Station, Ottumwa, Iowa, and Ray, living at home as well as a number of uncles, aunt, cousins and many many friends.

Thos of us who knew Ted will cherich his friendship through the years to some.
