Many Attend Final Services in Slater For Oscar Reinertson
Funeral services for Oscar Reinertson of Granger were held Saturday afternoon at 12:30 from the home in Granger and 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater.
The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. Frederick Weertz, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, in Des Moines. He was assisted by Rev. P. E. Onstad of Slater.
The floral offerings were many and beautiful. A number of gift of money to Missions and other church organizations were given by relatives and friends in his memory.
Mrs. Lawrence Fausch of Alleman sang "The Lord's Prayer" and Rev. P. E. Onstad sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The pall bearers were Paul Fausch of Waterloo, Wayne Martin of Sioux City, Jean Hauge of Boone, Archie Reinertson, Ervin Houge and Everett Reinertson. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
Obituary
Oscar Reinertson was born July 20, 1880 in Story county, Iowa and died at his home in Granger Nov. 16, 1948, at the age of 62 years, three months and 16 days. His parents were Edward and Jennie Wilson Reinertson. He was baptized in the Palestine Lutheran church at Slater, where he held membership. He attended school in Story county and the Jewell Lutheran college at Jewell.
He was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Halverson of Slater on September 30, 1908. To this union were born five children, Evangeline, who died in infancy, and Mildred, Robert, Homer and Betty Jean.
He was engaged in the banking business in Napier, Kelley and Slater. The family moved to Des Moines in 1926, where they joined the St. Johns Lutheran church. In 1930 they moved to a farm near Mitchellville, where they lived until six years ago when they moved to Granger.
His death was caused by pneumonia followed by a heart attack.
He was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Wright and Betty Jean, two sons Robert and Homer, and a grandson, Jerrett Wright all of Granger. Also five brothers Fred Reinertson of Richmond, Calif., A. J. Reinertson of Roland, Ben, Louie and Randall Reinertson of Kelley; and five sisters, Mrs. H. O. Sandness of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. E. Clark Hopkins of San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Arthur Fausch of Roland, Mrs. Dewey Fausch of Waterloo and Mrs. Ida Houge of Slater.
