Hold Final Rites For Charles Lewis Crain
Many attended the last rites for Charles Lewis Crain held recently in the Christian church in Zearing.
Obituary
Charles Lewis Crain born September 1, 1883, the son of Arthur and Caroline Crain, in Hardin county, Iowa, and departed this life December 27,, at his home near Zearing at the age of 65 years, three months and 16 days.
Part of his boyhood days were spent living with his family in Wisconsin. The remainder of the time he has lived in the vicinity of Hubbard and Zearing, engaged in farming.
On Dec. 23, 1906, he was married to Ethel Arrasmith of McCallsburg and to this union three children were born, one daughter Mattie, died in infancy and the mother passed away in 1932.
On Nov. 14, 1935, he married Sarah Hamilton of Iowa Falls, who cared for him during his long illness.
For many years he was known by his achievements and outstanding work in raising purebred livestock.
He was a member of the Hubbard Odd Fellows Lodge, and has been a director of schools in Grant township. At an early age he united with the Christian church in the Grant Center community and remained in that faith until his death.
Survivors
Surviving are his wife, Sarah, two daughters, Alice Meyer of Iowa Falls and Hattie Good of Zearing; two brothers, Hillis and Albert of Zearing; two sisters, Mrs. Will Dodd of Chapin and Mrs. Jessie Reed of Des Moines, nine grandchildren, six step-children; a number of nieces and nephews and many neighbors and friends.

Bailey, Fred Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bailey and Ora Larson, all of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Lovejoy and Mrs. Vina Deal of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dodd and Lloyd Dodd of Chapin, Mrs. Jessie Reed and son, Clarence and Virgil Crain of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Jarks of Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Mullen of Hartley, Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Stambrough of Marion, Mr. and Mrs. Staley and daughter of Waterloo, and many friends from Hubbard.
