Hold Funeral Services For Lester Cockerham
Funeral services were held in the Christian church in Zearing on Saturday, Nov. 27, for Lester W. Cockerham with the Rev. Carlyle Smith officiating. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.
Music was furnished by William Brown, Jr., Max McBride, Eldon Crain, Dale Johnston and Mrs. Gordon Lundy at the piano. Mrs. Bessie Oaks, Mrs. Pierce Jones and Mrs. Gladys Obenchain were in charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were Earl Gould, Lowell Oaks, Sam Good, Claire Obenchain, Pierce Jones and Louis Bryan.
Obituary
Lester W. Cockerham was born Oct. 10, 1910, in Trap Hill township, Wilks county, North Carolina, and passed away at the Eldora Memorial hospital at the age of 38 years, one month and 21 days.
His parents came to Iowa when he was six years of age and located on a farm near Hubbard. Later they moved to the Zearing community, where he has lived since.
He was united in marriage to Eileen Manning, June 17, 1933, and moved onto the farm south of Zearing, where they have lived all their married life.
To this union were born six children, Zona, Nedra, Arlene, Darlene, Dennis and Kenneth.
Survivors
Surviving are his wife; six children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Cockerham of McCallsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Emery Tight of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Dave Lehman of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Lyle Genrricher of Polk City, and one brother Neris Cockerham of Zearing. Also several nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.
