Last Rites For T. J. Foley Held Saturday

Funeral services for T. J. Foley, 73, who passed away at his home, 123 J avenue Wednesday, Feb. 2, were held from St. Patrick's Catholic church, Saturday morning with the Reverend Vern F. Cross officiating at the requiem high mass service.

Mrs. Reis Prati was at the organ, the singers being Mrs. Lester Meimann, Mrs. Ernest Thoreson and Miss Shirley Greiner.

Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased: Thomas Carmody and Carroll Carmody of Colo, William Wheelock of Boone, Martin Wheelock of Ames, Tim Wheelock of Nevada and Paul Wheelock of Zearing.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Thomas J. Foley was born in Bloomington, Ill., Sept. 30, 1875, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Foley who moved to Iowa February, 1893. He was married to Mary E. Wheelock at Colo, November 21, 1900 and to this union eight children were born, one of whom, William H. was killed in service in the Pacific theater of war, April, 1945.

The children, who, with the wife and mother survive him are Michael J. of Nevada, Mary, Mrs. Ernie Schuler, and Edna, Mrs. George Heintz of Colo, Helen, at home, Hugh F. of Des Moines, Thomas E. of Englewood, Colorado and John S. of Ames.

He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Edward Carmody, Anna and Margaret Foley of Nevada, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends in attendance at the last rites from out of town were from Waterloo, La Porte City, Anamosa, Marshalltown, Colo, Zearing, State Center, Boone, Pilot Mound, Ogden, Gilbert, Ames, Kelley, Des Moines, Anita, Perry, Algona, Ontario and Englewood, Colorado.

Rosary Service

Rosary service, which was very largely attended, was held at the Foley home Friday evening with Father Vern F. Cross in charge.

Was Widely Known

The deceased was sell known in Story and Boone counties where he had been engaged in farming for a number of years. For several years the home has been in Nevada. Mr. Foley, a faithful member of the Catholic church, was recognized and esteemed by all who knew him for his fine Christian character and his ever willingness to be of service to others.
