Hold Final Rites For Mrs. Annie Sowers
A prayer service in the Henderson Funeral home in Story City preceded the last rites in the Grace E.U.B. church on Friday afternoon for Mrs. Annie Sowers, a former resident of Story City. Interment was in the Story City cemetery.
Obituary
The Rev. W. E. Ulrich was the officiating pastor and read the following obituary. Mrs. Annie Templer Sowers, the daughter of Daniel D. C. and Nancy Templer, was born Oct. 14, 1866, in Schenectady county, New York, and died on March 8, 1949, in Nevada, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, four months and 23 days.
In 1867 the Templer family moved to Alden, Iowa, and in 1869, to a farm near Jewell. Annie Templer was baptized into the membership of Jewell Congregational church, no a part of the Federated church of Jewell, in 1889.
On September 25, 1895, she was united in marriage with Pearly Sowers and moved with him to farm, one mile west and one and a half miles north of Story City, where she continued to live until the fall of 1938. Here the Sowers home was blessed with the birth of two sons, Pearly and Walter, and one daughter, Ruby. Mrs. Sowers' husband, the senior Pearly Sowers died Feb. 13, 1919. In 1938 Mrs. Sowers moved to the old home place near Jewell, where she lived with her sister, Jennie and Etta Templer, until March 1948, when she went to live with her daughter, Ruby, now Mrs. C. T. Lock, of Nevada.
Survivors
Surviving are her two sons, Pearly of Jewell and Walter of Story City, her daughter, Mrs. C. T. Lock of Nevada, two sisters, Etta and Jennie Templer, of Jewell, two brothers, Archie Templer of Jewell and Camie Templer of Albia, Iowa, seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Maggie Templer in 1909.
