Hold Final Services For Levi H. Norton

Funeral services for Levi H. Norton, 88, who passed away at the home of his daughter in Swea City on Wednesday, Oct. 19, were held from the Zearing United Evangelical church on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, with the Rev. Dennert in charge. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

Music was furnished by Carroll Bailey, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Gordon Lundy.

The many and beautiful flowers were cared for by Mrs. Harry LeFlever, Frs. R. J. Pulley and Mrs. S. R. Hix.

Casket bearers were W. C. Yong, Don Brouhard, Fred Thornon, Ray Lightfoot, R. J. Pulley and S. R. Hix.

Obituary

Levi H. Norton, youngest son of Betsey and Henry Harrison Norton, was born at Earlville, Ill., on Aug. 7, 1861. He moved to Iowa on Feb. 7, 1896, and resided in Zearing for many years.

In 1939, he moved to Swea City, where he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuler, where he passed away at the age of 88 years, two months and 12 days.

He was united in marriage to Hattie Frank and to this union was born three daughters, Celia, Dora and Murial.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Hattie, on Jan. 27, 1931, and his daughter, Dora Cerka, on April 9, 1939.

Mr. Norton was well known in the Zearing community and had many friends. He was caretaker of the Zearing cemetery for quite a few years. He was known as a good neighbor and a fine father and was deeply interested in the welfare of his children, grandchildren and many others.

Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Celia Cameron of Des Moines and Mrs. Muriel Schuler of Swea City; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
