Last Rites For C. M. O'Neil On Wednesday
Funeral services for Charles M. O'Neil were held from the Nevada Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. J. Neal Clemmer of Luther officiating, assisted by the Rev. Floyd A. Smith of Nevada.
Mrs. Theron Case sang "Asleep In Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross", Mrs. Norman C. Dobson was at the organ.
Pall bearers were Haynard Valline, Earl Webb, John Wheelock, Lloyd Fincham, Don Jay and Clarence Fincham.
Burial was in the Colo cemetery.
Obituary
Charles Michael, youngest son of John and Mary O'Neil was born near Colo, Iowa October 5th 1871. He passed away Sunday evening October 2nd, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, 27 days.
He grew to manhood in the community and had lived his entire life in Story County. He was a prominent farmer and stock man north of Colo for a number of years.
Charles was a member of the Johnson's Grove Methodist Church in that community until moving to Nevada, 17 years ago when his membership was transferred to the Nevada Methodist church. He was united in marriage to Mary Fincham, February 16th 1910, and to this union was born five children: Willard, Catherine, Wilda, Garnet and Averill. Willard and Garnet preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mary, and daughters--Catherine, Mrs. Laurence Kirsher, of Spokane, Washington, Wilda--Mrs. Lloyd Michelson, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Averill--Mrs. Robert Dettman, of Spokane, Washington. He also leaves a son, Hugh, of Pueblo, Colorado; by a former marriage and two grand children Sharon Kirscher, and Charles Dettman, besides a host of relatives and friends.
Hugh, Catherine and Averill were unable to be present at the last rites.
