THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 16, 1903, page 1. "OBITUARY - Mrs. Ella Whetsteine Blumenstein was born in Johnson County, Iowa, October 13, 1862, and died in Maxwell April 13, 1903, age forty years and six months. She grew to womanhood near the place of her birth and was married to George D. Blumenstein October 14, 1880, and they resided in Iowa county until 1894, when they moved to Manning, Iowa, and from there moved to Maxwell in 1896, where they have lived ever since. To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Blumenstein, four daughters were born, all of whom are still at home. Mrs. Blumenstein was a member of the M. E. church from childhood and always lived as a consistent Christian, and has gone to reap the reward of a well spent life. She was a kind mother and was always very companionable with her children, a loving wife and a good neighbor. All who knew her greatly admired her womanly character and pleasing disposition, as she always had a smile for everyone and was never out of patience but saw the reasonable side of a question. She suffered much during the last few years of her life but bore it all without murmuring. Her life was an example of what one who is in the world to do good can accomplish, and many people might be benefited by patterning after that kind of living. The funeral was conducted at the M. E. church Tuesday at 2:30 by her pastor, Rev. O. F. Shaw, assisted by Rev. Clay Bobbitt, of the C. P. church, and internment was made in the Maxwell cemetery. The Court of Honor, of which Mrs. Blumenstein was a member, attended in a body and their beautiful burial ceremony was used at the cemetery. The floral decorations were elaborate and beautiful and the many contributions were expressive of the high esteem in which the deceased was held by her many friends. Mr. Blumenstein's mother, two brothers and a cousin, of Washington county, arrived here Tuesday morning and were in attendance at the funeral. Mrs. Blumenstein's parents were unable to be present on account of ill health. The bereaved family has the sympathy of a multitude of friends in this their time of great affliction, but yet all know that human sympathy is not able to heal the wounds thus inflicted. Comfort can only come from a higher source."
