THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Story Co., Iowa Thursday November 18, 1954 page 1; "FORMER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY - Edwin Bell, 44, of Des Moines passed away suddenly Monday evening at 9:00 p.m. enroute to the hospital. Surviving are his wife Pearl, parents, Mr. & Mrs. Roy Bell of Maxwell, one son Richard, and one brother Ralph Bell of Des Moines. Funeral services were held at the Cooper Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2:30, with Rev.Oren Hall in charge. Internment was in the Peoria Cemetery. A complete obituary will appear in next week's issue of the TRIBUNE."
THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Thursday, November 25, 1954, page 1 "EDWIN LEROY BELL SERVICES - Edwin LeRoy Bell son of Jenny and Roy Bell, born August 17, 1910 near Maxwell, Iowa passed away with a heart attack November 15, 1954 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 44 years. In passing he leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Pearl, his parents Roy and Jenny of Maxwell, a brother Ralph of Des Moines, one son, Richard, and two grandsons of Corning, Iowa, besides a host of loved ones, both relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard, who passed away in infancy. Edwin attended the Maxwell High School and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. For the past several years he has been employed as a car salesman in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at the Cooper Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, November 17, with Rev. Oren B. Hall in charge. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang "Shadows" and "Some Day He'll Make it Plain to Me" accompanied by Mrs. Madeline Summitt. The many beautiful floral sprays were cared for by Mrs. Nellie Uhl and Mrs. Violet Kaausman. The casket bearers were Ralph Irving Bell, Howard Bell, Melvin Bell, Robert Bell, Ronald Whitney, Dean Whitney and Wendall Whitney. Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery."
