Last Rites For Mrs. Emma Harris

Last rites for Mrs. Emma Harris, who passed away at Mary Greeley hospital Sunday, May 28 after a week's illness, were held from the Morfoot funeral home Wednesday, May 31 with Rev. James D. Ransom officiating.

The songs "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Old Rugged Cross" were sung during the service.

The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Martin Carsrud and Mrs. Mary Elliott.

The casket bearers were F. C. Tarman, Geo. H. Kellogg, Ralph Dillin and Gus Berhens.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read by the officiating minister who also brought words of spiritual comfort to the bereaved.

Obituary

Emma Schauper, daughter of Frederick and Minnie Schauper was born May 26, 1875 and passed away at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Sunday May 28, 1950 at the age of 75 years and 2 days.

Mrs. Harris was born on a farm in Sherman Township and later with her parents moved on farm northeast of McCallsburg.

On Feb. 3, 1899 she was married to C. E. Haris and for a time lived on a farm near Fernald but for many years has made her home in Nevada.

Mrs. Harris who had been in poor health the past few years began to fall in December and on Sunday night May 21 suffered a stroke and was taken at once to the hospital in Ames where all possible was done for her but after a week of suffering she passed away on Sunday morning.

She is survived by a daughter Eva Harris and a brother John Schauper of McCallsburg and 4 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Henry, Fred and Andrew the latter being a twin brother of the deceased.

Resident of Nevada for a number of years she leaves many friends who also mourn her departure.
