THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 2, 1916, page 1, column 4. "WAYNE APPLEGATE DEAD. Word was received last Wednesday by Maxwell relatives of the death of Wayne Applegate, a former resident of this locality, at his home in Pittsburg, Kans. Mr. Applegate had been ailing for some time, but it was not know here of the seriousness of his illness until the news came that he was dead. David Garlock and Mesdames Will Troup, Will Link and Amelia McKim left for Kansas Thursday to attend the funeral of their brother-in-law, which was held on Sunday."
