THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, August 1, 1907, page 1, column 1. "DEATH OF JERRY ACHESON - Word was received here the latter part of the week that Jerry Acheson had died on last Thursday, July 25, at his home in Santa Barbara, Calif., as the result of a second stroke of paralyis,** the first one attaking** him on January 28, from which he had only partially recovered. Mr. Acheson was well known in this vicinity, being a pioneer resident of Washington Township, Polk County, and for many years he was one of the reliable men of the community, and by his industry accumulated a competency sufficient that three of four years ago he removed to Santa Barbara, and settle down to spend his declining days in ease and comfort. The nurse who attended him during his illness will accompany the remains to Maxwell, leaving Santa Barbara last Sunday and expect to arrive in Maxwell tonight (Wednesday), **bara last Sunday and expects to arrive mains in time** the funeral will occur from the Brethren church on Friday, the services being conducted by Rev. L. N. Day, of Loring. The numerous friends of Mr. Acheson in our community were deeply pained to learn of his demise, and extend the most heartfelt sympathy to the loving daughter, Miss Lizzie, and other relatives who are left to mourn his demise.
