Final Services for Mrs. Richard Bushman
Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Bushman were held Thursday, March 9, at the Bethany Lutheran church at McCallsburg following a prayer service at the home in Zearing. Rev. H. N. Bakke was the officiating minister.
Mesdames B. A. Imsland and G. E. DuBois sang "No Night There" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. J. O. Helland accompanied them at the piano.
The many beautiful flowers were cared for by Mesdames Catherine Clark, Lester Post and Orville Vallem. There were many gifts of money to the church building fund and other charitable organization in memory of Mrs. Bushman.
Casket bearers were cousins of the deceased: Harold Tjelmeland, Leo Tjelmeland, Wallace Tjelmeland, Talmar Tjelmeland, William Marvin Tjelmeland, William Marvin Tjelmeland and Harland Nassen. Interment was in the Warren Township cemetery at McCallsburg.
Obituary.
Arlet Tensa Tjelmeland, daughter of Martin and Ora Tjelmeland, was born on a farm southwest of McCallsburg on April 20, 1923, and died at her home in Zearing, March 6, 1950, at the age of 26 years, 10 months and 14 days.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church, from which she was confirmed on June 13, 1937. She attended and was graduated from the McCallsburg Consolidated school.
On Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Richard R. Bushman of McCallsburg. They have made their home near McCallsburg until moving to the present home in Zearing in March of 1949.
In November Arlet underwent surgery at a Rochester, Minn., hospital, returning home Dec. 17, 1949. For a time she performed her household duties until her health failed and she was confined to bed -- even then she was patient and cheerful. Everything possible was done to make her comfortable by relatives and friends.
Survivors
Surviving are her husband, Richard Bushman; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Tjelmeland; two sisters, Ione Meyers of Zearing and Beverly at home; five brothers, Harlan, Kenneth and Lester of McCallsburg, Myron of Zearing and Clifford of Ames; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Tjelmeland of McCallsburg and Jeanette Tjelmeland; one brother-in-law, Bill Meyers of Zearing, and her grandmother, Mrs. Belle Tjelmeland of Roland.
Also her father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bushman of Nevada; a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Hambly of New Providence, one niece, Kay Tjelmeland of McCallsburg; two nephews, Larry Meyers of Zearing and Jimmy Hambly of New Providence, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene, who passed away in infancy and her grandfather, Tom Anfinson, who died March 7, 1950.
