Funeral Services Held For Carl Tesdell, 67
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Carl Tesdell, prominent farmer living southeast of Slater. Mr. Tesdell had been in failing health the past year and a half following a stroke.
He was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Wednesday, where he passed away Firday evening from a heart attack.
A short service was held at the Riis Funeral home at 1:30, followed by rites in the Palestine church at 2 o'clock. Rev. Harry Stoutland was in charge and chose his text from John 3:16. Rev. Peder Buland of Cambridge also spoke briefly.
Kenneth Fjeller and Wm. Accola sang two duets, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Lords Prayer." They were accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Gfeller. The many beautiful floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Andrew Wee, Mrs. Willie Richardson and Mrs. Osmond Sheldahl. There were also many gifts to missions and worthy causes in memory of Mr. Tesdell.
Pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased. They were Paul and Severt Tesdell, Billy Cassell, Edward Tesdell, Fred Sydness and Melvin Tesdell. Burial was in the Palestine cemetery.
Obituary
Carl Sewell Tesdell was the son of Ingeborg and Severt Tesdell. He was born October 14, 1884, and passed away at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Friday, November 2.
Mr. Tesdell lived all of his 67 years within 4 1/2 miles south of Huxley.
On March 14, 1907, he was united in marriage to Mabel Cora Tesdell and to this union three children were born.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two sons, Homer of Des Moines and Ronald of Slater; one daughter, Iva Dell Dunnagan of Homestead, Florida; eight grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, Sanford of Slater, Ben and Leonard of Des Moines, Bertha Sydness and Myrtle Cassel of Slater.
Mr. Tesdell was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine Lutheran church of which he was an active member all of his life.
