Former Roland Physician Dead

Word has reached her from Portland, Oregon, that Dr. John Emmett died a short time ago at the age of seventy years and was buried from the Lutheran church at Portland, Rev. M. A. Christianson conducting the funeral. Dr. Emmett came to this country from Norway when a young man and by hard work succeeded in securing an education, having attended Luther College and later being awarded his diploma from the University of Iowa and successfully passed the state examination to practice medicine. he was for many years located at Story City and for a few years practiced at Roland leaving shortly afterwards for the west and locating at Portland. He leaves his wife and four grown sons to mourn his death.
