Services Held At Stanhope for Ben Johnson Nov. 11th
Funeral services for Ben L. Johnson were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanhope on Nov. 11th with the Rev. Walter E. Carlson officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul cemetery. Mrs. Benjamin Anderson and Truman Quam sang.
Pall bearers were Leonard Johnson, Charles Hove, Gordon Hove, Mervin Jensen, Lester Hankoos and Ralph Whalen.
Obituary
Ben L. Johnson was born February 17, 1880 near Randall, Iowa. He was the son of Lars and Ellen Johnson. He died at his home near Stanhope on November 8. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Svingen. He moved with his parents to the present L. M. Johnson farm and attended school near there. He was confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member.
On March 20, 1901 he was married the Martha Benson of Jasper County, Iowa. They moved to their present home where they resided for 58 years.
Surviving are his wife, four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a foster daughter, Julia, in 1915 and by his parents and two sisters.
