McCallsburg Man Died Suddenly Monday Morning

On Monday morning, evidently at an early hour, Andrew Erickson passed away. He had been in very poor health for some time and some hope was held out for his recovery. On Sunday evening he seemed a little better when the family retired. On Monday morning when Mrs. Erickson went to his bedside he was dead. He had evidently passed away in the night, very likely while asleep.

OBITUARY

Andrew Erickson passed away to the Great Beyond on Monday morning, Sept. 26, 1921. He is one of the pioneers of this community. The deceased was born in Stavanger, Norway, December 11, 1846, and died Sept. 26, 1921, having been at the time of his death 75 years, 9 months and 15 days. He left his fatherland in the year 1872 and came to Legrand, Marshall county, where he lived for five years, when he moved to a farm in Warren township, Story county in 1877. He moved from the farm to McCallsburg in the year 1899, where he has lived since.

In the year 1890 he was married to Alma Solyst and to this union four children were born, namely, Mrs. Amanda Holland of Garden City, Mrs. Leonora Henderson of Minnesota and Fred and Obed, who remain at home.

Funeral was conducted from the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. J. N. Sandven. The out-of-town people who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Manus Solyst of Garden City, John Solyst of Forest City, Mr. and Mrs. Ludvig Jacobson and family of Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jacobson of Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. S. Holland and family of Garden City, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Solyst of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Solyst and son Reuben of Roland, Mr. Edwin Jacobson of Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Henderson of Minnesota. The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his wife and four children and sister, Mrs. O. J. Solyst of this place.
