Funeral Services at Armour, S. D., for Charles P. Hamm

Funeral services were held at St. George's Catholic church at Armour, S. D., Saturday morning for Charles Hamm. 70, former Story county resident, who died a this home near Armour, Wednesday, March 27. Requiem high mass was celebrated by his pastor, Father Corey, and burial was at Pleasant Ridge cemetery at Armour.

Charles Philip Hamm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hamm, was born at Freeport, Ill., August 19, 1869, and passed away at his home near Armour on March 27, 1940, at the age of 70 years.

When he was 10 years old he moved with his family to Story county, Iowa.

In 1899 he was united in marriage to Lyda Mulcahy of Colo, Iowa, and they established their new home in Douglas county, S. D.

To this union were born four sons and four daughters, three infants having preceded him in death.

He is survived by his widow and the following children: Aloysius and James, at home, Carroll adn Mrs. E. V. Petted of Des Moines, and Sister Mary Anne of the Presentation Order of Aberdeen, S. D. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank of Armour, S. D., and William of Colo, and a sister, Mrs. A. O. McCoy of Colo.

He was a man of sterling worth, honest and industrious. These qualities combined with his sunny, cheerful disposition endeared him not only to the hearts of his immediate family but also to all those with whom he came in contact. His sudden passing is a great shock and a distinct loss to the entire community.
