Special to the Journal.
Cambridge, July 22--Funeral services for Mrs. Harry Jones, who died in Des Moines July 18, were held Wednesday at the Cambridge Union church, the service being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Peter Jacobs. Hymns were sung by a quartette and interment was in the Cambridge cemetery beside a little one who had preceded her in death.Miss Bertha Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Elliott, was born near McCallsburg, Sept. 3, 1893 and died in Des Moines, Monday afternoon July 18. She was united in marriage to Harry Jones in 1910. To this union six children were born. Two girls died in infancy. The four she leaves to mourn her death are Gerald, aged 16, Cecil 13, Verle 11 and Dorothy 5. Her father, Ed Elliott of Des Moines and two brothers, Eugene Elliott of Ames and Oley Elliott, Cambridge, share the sorrow. Mrs. Elliott's mother died in December 1917.
Mrs. Elliott has lived in Story county all of her life except the years spent in Des Moines. She has been a resident of this vicinity for twenty years. The twenty-third of June she underwent an operation from which she never recovered. A young mother, for she had not yet reached the age of thirty-four, has been called by death when the children were so much in need of her devotion and care.
