There were a number of others from over the state in attendance at last rites.
The following obituary was read at the funeral service:
"A little over two years ago we were met here for a funeral service over the body of A. R. Woods, the husband of the lady whose body lies here before us today. Little did we then think that we would be gathered so soon again.
Mrs. Mary Charlotte Woods was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Jagerson. Her father was born in Norway and her mother, Mrs. Charlotte Nelson-Jagerson, was born in Sweden. They established a home near Crocker, Iowa where Mrs. Woods was born April 16, 1877. She was on a journey to California with her daughter, Mabel, but was stricken a few mile out of Barston, California, and the driver hurried on to Barstow to the hospital but she was unable to rally and passed away August 18, 1945 at the age of 68.
On January 18, 1899 she was united in marriage to A. R. Woods and they lived in the White Oak neighborhood, Elkhart Township in Polk County until they moved to Cambridge in 1912.
To Mr. and Mrs. Woods were born four children all of whom survived the parents: James Woods of Cambridge, Mrs. Nelma Fairweather of Long Beach, California; Mabel Woods of Cambridge and Mrs. Erma Needham of Plainfield, Illinois. She is also survived by three brothers, John Jagerson of Sherburne, Minnesota; Carl Jagerson of Madrid, Iowa; and Albert Jagerson of Bricelyn, Minnesota. Two sisters survived her, Mrs. Emma Askland of Reeder, N. Dakota; and Mrs. Amanda Woods of Slater, Iowa; also one grandson James Woods, Jr., of Cambridge, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Anna Woods preceded her in death.
Mrs. Woods was a member of the United Brethren Church in Cambridge. She was not a woman who sought public place. She was rather a woman of the home. Her chief pleasure lay in her own family though her friends were numerous and her attachments to them was warm and steadfast. It is such substantial and practical women who make a neighborhood meaningful. There can be no doubt of the place of this good woman in this community. Her friends will long cherish her memory and her children will ever be grateful for a good mother."
