Funeral Services Held For Mrs. T. T. Olson
STORY CITY--Funeral services for Mrs. T. T. Olson were held in St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 12 with the Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating. The Rev. Ivar Havneros and Rev. L. A. Mathre conducted the prayer service in the chapel of the Sunset Home which preceded the service at 1:30 p. m.
Soloist at the church was Mrs. Robert Hermanson who sang "In Heaven Alone" and "Den Store Hvide Flok." Mrs. Joel Jacobson served at the organ.
Obituary
Anna Porter Olson, daughter of Charles and Martha Porter, was born in St. Paul, Minn. on Nov. 10, 1864 and passed away at the Sunset Home on Feb. 9, 1957 at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 30 days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Gerhard, and a daughter, Nora Skeie, also her parents, a sister Mrs. Rinert (Leva) Reinertson of Huxley and two brothers, Christ Porter of St. Paul, Minn. and A. C. Porter of Cambridge.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Sophie Benson of Randall and a son Arnold Olson of Beverly Hills, Calif., 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
At the age of 5 years, following the death of her parents, Mrs. Olson was cared for by Rev. and Mrs. Nils Amlund with whom she continued to make her home until Sept. 17, 1885 when she was united in marriage to Torres T. Olson. They lived in the Story City vicinity until Mr. Olson's death in 1934. For the past 12 years, Mrs. Olson had been a resident of the Sunset Home. She has been a life long member of the St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City. She was an active member of the church as long a her health permitted.
She was buried in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pall bearers were Otis Thorsbakken, Porter Quam, Henry Matson, Embert Munsen and Arthur Carpenter.
