Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Monicia E. Soder, age 65, of Colo, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Cornerstone Church in Ames. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Monicia was born on October 22, 1953 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames to Michael Leo and Velma Ruth (Lukes) Rolling. She graduated from Ames High School in 1971. Following high school, she attended junior college for business in Minneapolis. After finishing her education, Monicia moved back to Stratford, IA. Together, she and Lawrence Soder had a daughter, Eraka. While in Stratford, Monicia owned and operated Bar None. When she sold the bar, she started working at Gufstafson Glass, where she learned the art of stained glass. From the spark of passion in her, she opened Works of Glass in 1998. Monicia loved art and retired on September 1, 2018.

Monicia was a leader to many people throughout the years through her entrepreneurship, inspiring others in their own careers. She was also a sentimental and kind soul. Many knew Monicia as a cheerful person, which ties into her love for Christmas. Monicia had many passions and hobbies. She enjoyed gardening, Bible studies at the Cornerstone Church, and seeing her grandchildren play basketball.

Monicia is survived by her daughter, Eraka (Ryan) McCulla; her brothers, Michael Rolling of Ames and Mitchell Rolling of Tampa, FL; her sister, Melissa Rolling of Ames; and a nephew, Alex (Paola) Tsichlis of Boston, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Sandy Rolling.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for Monicia’s family at www.adamssoderstrum.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
