Flickinger Funeral Held at Maxwell
Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, May 27--The funeral services for Fred Flickinger were held Tuesday afternoon at the Guy Cooper home in Maxwell with Rev. W. M. Schuermann of the M. E. church in charge assisted by Rev. B. H. Guthrie.Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery, where the Masonic fraternity pronounced the committment service of the order.
Fred Flickinger was born on a farm near Maxwell, July 13, 1875, and died at the Sanitarium in Nevada, May 18, 1935, at the age of 59 years, 10 months and five days.
He grew to manhood in the Maxwell community. Early in life he became engaged in the retail drug business in Maxwell. Some years alter he and his family moved to Nevada at which place he was engaged in business. The last few years of his life were spent in Maxwell.
He was united in marriage to Grace Garis, February 14, 1899. He is survived by his wife and one son, Fred Junior, of Cedar Rapids and by one brother, Lynn of Ames.
He has been a member of many years of the Masonic fraternity, and also belonged to the Mystic Shrine, an advanced degree of that fraternity.
Fred, as his friends best knew him, was a man of friendly spirit, one who radiated a spirit of optimism and hope in the midst of many an adverse experience.
To those who were close to him in domestic ties, he will be remembered for his loyalty to their welfare, his industry and devotion to his loved ones and fortitude and courage to bear his own burdens.

Addison, James Carter, Mesdames Harry Langland, Frank Boardman, Wright Ringheim and J. A. Mills and Miss Kathryn Maloney of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Fish of Collins; Dr. E. O.
