Obituary

William Gilley

William Edward Gilley was born Dec. 7, 1898 in the home of George M. and Ida Belle Gilley on a farm east of Maxwell, Iowa. When he was two years old his parents moved to the Collins area and Collins has been his home with the exception of about 16 years spent in California. He passed away Aug. 6 at the Story County Hospital in Nevada at the age of 77 years.

He was married to Frances Denniston on Feb. 25, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa. They became the parents of Naomi Jean and Donald Verlin Gilley.

He attended the Collins school, was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a 53 year member of the Collins Masonic Lodge.

His survivors include: his wife, Frances and their two children, Naomi Pointer of Nevada and Donald Gilley of Creston, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a sister Zola Shugart of Melbourne, a brother Gerald Gilley of Collins and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sister and an infant brother.

Services were conducted from the Collins United Methodist Church by Doyle Horn on Monday. Graveside services were in charge of Fervent Lodge No. 513 A.F. & A.M.
