Mrs. Eunice Buchanan, for many years a mush respected citizen of Nevada, died Saturday evening in Polk City, Iowa, of her grandson, Rev. W. M. Blood, and was buried in Nevada Monday afternoon. Eunice Baxter was born in Steuben county, New York, June 1, 1818, united with the Methodist church at the age of twelve and continued a consistent member for 67 years, was married April 22, 1837, to James C. Buchanan, removed with him in 1852 to Bureau county, Illinois, where he died in 1866, came with her daughter, Mrs. S. E. Blood to Nevada in 1867, and remained here until two years ago, when she when to live with her grandson at Polk City. She was the mother of three sons and two daughters; and she leaves of her near relatives on sister, two children, eight grand children, and eleven great grand children. Her age was 79 years, 3 months and 17 days. Mrs. Buchanan as a woman of rare sweetness of character; and though her lot may have seemed humble, yet she filled well her niche in the world and devoted herself faithfully to promoting the comfort and happiness of those about her. Her invalid daughter Mary was for many years her especial charge and was cared for with a self sacrifice which commanded the admiration it deserved. In all her life her modest worth was more conspicuous than she suspected; and if it found not always the recognition that it merited, it shall at least be honored in her obituary. The funeral was conducted at the Methodist church Monday by Dr. Bunce and Rev. Fegtly.
