Funeral Services for Mrs. Edna Belcher Held on Monday

Maxwell, Jan. 4--Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Smith Belcher were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the Evangelical church at Iowa Center with Rev. C. R. Fitz officiating. A quartette composed of Mrs. Van Busenberg, Shirley Sesker, Martin H. Troup and Harry Fackler sang "In the Sweet, Bye and Bye," "Goodnight and Good Morning" and "Shall We Gather at the River."

Floral tributes were very beautiful.

Pall bearers were Forest Scott, Cliff Inse, R. Z. Brown, Willis Rupp, John Barrett and Vern Marmon.

Burial was made in the Iowa Center Cemetery.

Rev. Fitz read the following brief obituary:

Mrs. Edna Belcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Clara Smith, was born May 27, 1997, in Polk County, Iowa, and passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Andrews in Maxwell, Iowa, Dec. 30, 1944, at the age of 57 years, 7 months and 3 days.

She was married to Mr. Frank Belcher, Nov. 21, 1912, who passed away August 18, 1942. She leaves to mourn her passing two sisters, Mrs. John Andrews of Maxwell and Mrs. James Fry of Nevada, and a host of friends and relatives.

She has been an invalid for many years but was always kind and patient and will be greatly missed by all.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Edna Edith Smith married (1) Warren Claude Fry on 21 August 1901 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. She married (2) Franklin Belcher on 21 November 1912 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
