Last Rites for Mrs. Chas. Apple Thursday P.M.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chas. Apple, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Thursday afternoon with her pastor, the Reverend O. E. Cooley officiating at the last rites.
Mrs. Norman Dobson was at the organ and Mrs. Lee Lowenberg sang two selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me".
The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The casket bearers were W. W. Alexander, Howard Mills, Lester Corbin, H. L. Boyes, R. A. Davis and W. H. Harlan.
The following obituary was read at the funeral service:
Mabel Amelia Apple was born in Story County, a daughter of Thomas and Amelia Howland. Her death occurred on Sept. 8, 1946. With the exception of a few years spent in Forest City, she lived her entire life in Story County.
On Sept. 3, 1894 she was married to Charles Apple. To this union one daughter, Dollie, now Mrs. Earl Christiason of Los Angeles, Calif. was born. About 43 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Apple moved to Nevada and lived for many years on Lincoln Highway. Ten years ago this last June Mr. Apple passed away. About three years following this Mrs. Apple moved from the home on Lincoln Highway to an apartment where she continued to live until the time of her death.
"Besides her daughter Mrs. Earl Christiason she leaves one grandson, Kenneth Chrisiason of Britt, Iowa. Also two great grandsons. Also one sister, Mrs. Ada Crooks and one brother, Balus Howland. Also two nieces and two nephews.
"For many years Mrs. Apple was a member of the Methodist Church and was a regular attendant at the services of the church both Sunday School in the Loyal Sisters class and church. She was in Sunday School one week ago last Sunday.
"Although her death came suddenly and as shock to everyone, she had been in failing health for some years.
Among those here for the funeral service were the daughter, Mrs. Earl Christiason of Los Angeles, Calif.; the grandson, Kenneth Christiason and wife of Britt.
