NOAH HARDIN.
Story-Boone Pioneer Dead.

Noah Hardin, pioneer resident of both Story and Boone counties, died at Boone on Monday last, the funeral taking place on Wednesday. Born in Indiana, Mr. Hardin came to Iowa in 1853 settling on a quarter section where Story City now stands. He was postmaster at Story City, the first county supervisor from that section of the county, built the first school house, the first church and first fame bridge in his township. He also helped to build the first railroad bridge across the Des Moines river at Moingona and was the last survivor of the first party that crossed said bridge on a locomotive. He was foreman of Northwestern shops at Boone for 29 years being retired by the company in 1902 under the pension system. For many years too he served the city of Boone as head of the fire department. At his death he was 88 years of age, active in mind and body, revered by all who knew him.
