Christine Lowery
Born: January 21st, 1927
Passed: June 13th, 2019

Christine Lowery led a wonderful life for 92 years until her departure at Hazen Hills Farm & Vineyard on June 13th, 2019 in Galax, Virginia. The sky was crystal blue, a gentle breeze was blowing, and birds were singing for her departure and a place in heaven. Known as “Oma” to everyone who knew her, she was loved and is still loved dearly to this day. Born in Auby, France, Christine live in Europe during times of hardship and war. She survived and decided to immigrate to the United States in 1956 with her children and started a new and exciting life. She lived in Minneapolis for a short time when she arrived in this country, worked hard and received her US Citizenship which she held with pride and high regard. Christine also resided in New Orleans before settling down in Ames, Iowa to raise her children. While in Ames, Iowa she worked with organizations like Welcome Wagon, New Neighbor Leagues, Meals on Wheels and even opened a Bistro for a short time offering her famous European Cuisines. In her later years she decided that warmer climate and beautiful “Southern Charm” was right up her alley so she discovered Charlotte, North Carolina in 1983. Life was good for Christine in Charlotte where she met many friends and worked. She was a chocolatier, a florist and volunteered her time to the Senior Centers. She experienced a new world and discovered family and friends were most important to her. Christine helped anyone she could without anything in return. Christine moved to Hazen Hills Farm & Vineyard in 2015 to spend her days enjoying the countryside. She will be extremely missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 from 1 to 3 pm. In lieu of Flowers we ask you to make any donations to Medi Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 1287 Sparta, North Carolina, 28675 in memory of Christine Lowery.
