Doris Lahoma Smith
April 23, 1922 - July 7, 2019

Doris L. Smith, 97, of Collins, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Westhaven Community in Boone.

Doris was born April 23, 1922, in Garden Grove, Iowa the daughter of William (Henry) and Oral Mae McElwee. Her parents moved to Collins where she graduated from Collins High School in 1939. On March 3, 1942, Doris married Donald Smith. Together they raised three boys: Douglas, Daylis and Randy.

Doris was a member of the Collins and Rhodes Rebekah Lodge for 50 years and received the Decoration of Chivalry in 1977. She also held the Noble Grand and Secretary office for several years.

Doris belonged to the Christian Church in Collins and loved to make quilts, all by hand for her kids and grandkids and many other people had a quilt made by Doris.

Doris is survived by her sons, Douglas of Ft. Collins, CO and Randy (Marlene) of Collins; and three grandchildren: Darin, Cody and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her son, Daylis.

Doris has been cremated and private burial of cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
