Obituaries
William Arthur Opperman, Sr.
June 13, 1931, to August 9, 1994William Arthur Opperman, Sr., 53, of Cache, Okla., died of cancer at the Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Fort Sill, Okla.
He was born in Ames, and grew up in Nevada, where he attended school.
On May 22, 1960, he married Brenda McCarty in Nevada.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, retiring in 1981 as a United States Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 after 20 year of service. he received numerous awards and medals including: the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal Third Award, the Expert Rifle Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Unit Citation with Palm, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon Second Award.
After retiring, he was employed for five years by Northrop World Wide Services, and for the past two years by ITT Federal Service Corporation, Fort Still, Okla.
He had been a resident of Cache, Okla., for the past 18 years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; three sons; William Arthur, Jr. of Lawton, Okla., Duane Allen of Camp LeJune, N.C., and Kipp Anthony of Cache, Okla.; one daughter, Shaun Marie Tanner of Cache, Okla.; his mother, Ethel Jacobson of Nevada; six brothers: Richard Opperman of Nevada, Jack Opperman of Nevada, Robert Opperman of Denver, Colo., Jordan Jacobson Jr., of Denver, Colo., Dale Jacobson of Nevada, and Mike Jacobson of Nevada; two sisters: Norma Okland of Huxley, and Shirley Carmack of Unionville, Mo.; and four grandchildren: Britteny Opperman, Courtney Opperman, Tiffiny Opperman, and Eric Arthur Tanner.
Huddleston's Funeral Home, Lawton, Okla., was in charge of arrangements.
