Eugene Carl Mehlow
July 24, 1922, to Sept. 21, 1994Eugene Carl Mehlow, 72, of Nevada, died of cancer at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames.
He was born to Matt and Mary (Koch) Mehlow in McCallsburg.
On December 8, 1944, he married Betty Henry in Colo. A lifelong resident of Story County, he had been employed by the maintenance department of the Nevada school district.
He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada; the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department; and from 1989 to 1993, the Nevada Historical Society Board.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Nevada; two daughters Christine Rose of Boone, and Carolyn Bruce of Huxley; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and two brothers: Clarence Mehlow of Ames, and Edward Mehlow of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; and one sister.
Graveside services were held Friday, September 23 at Story Memorial Gardens, Ames with Pastor Brad Braley of Central Presbyterian Church, Nevada, officiating. Burial was in Story Memorial Gardens, Ames.
Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, was in charge of arrangements.
