Mother of Local Man Died Monday
Mrs. Margaret Blink, 91, the aged mother of George Blink, of 724 Tenth street, this city, died at the home of her son Louis, in Marshalltown Monday evening, fro infirmities incident to old age. Funeral services will be held Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Rhodes, after interment will be in the cemetery at that place.
Margaret Halter was born July 20, 1836, in Alsace, France, and came to this country at the age of 18, after being on the ocean ninety days in a sail boat, settling near Ottawa.
She married Joseph Blink in 1857 at Aurora, Ill., and in 1860 came to Iowa, and settled near what is now the town of Rhodes. At that time Iowa City was the nearest railroad station. Her husband preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1912.
She is survived by ten children, George Blink, of Nevada; Mrs. Will Welp, of Haverhill; Louis and Leo Blink of Marshalltown; Mrs. J. E. Retz of Onaka, S. D.; Albert Blink of Nichols, Wis.; Mrs. T. E. Marshall, of Tama; Mrs. A. Elliott of Belle Plaine; and Charles Blink, of Rhodes.
