Funeral Services Held Here for Former Nevada Woman
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada for Mrs. D. J. Bishop, 82, former Nevada woman, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. C. Kingsbury near St. Anthony Friday afternoon. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of Mr. Bishop who died in 1934.
A fitting services was conducted by Dr. Loose pastor of the Nevada M. E. church of which Mrs. Bishop was a member.
Mrs. Bishop was born Elizabeth McMillan February 28, 1845 in Chicago, Illinois.
In 1866 she with her widowed mother, moved to McLean county, Ill. where she taught school until she was married September 16, 1869 to D. J. Bishop.
Together they lived on Mr. Bishop's farm near Lowanda until 1887 when they moved to Normal, Ill., where their only daughter attended school.
In 1896 the family moved to Ames. Two years later they moved to Nevada where Mr. Bishop passed away in October, 1923.
Mrs. Bishop was a Christian woman and a Bible student devoted to her Lord and His cause. So many letters have come to her daughter, telling of the help Mrs. Bishop has been to them in their Christian life.
Music was by Beulah Freeland and consisted of three hymns selected by Mrs. Bishop.
Friends were in attendance from different parts of Story and Marshall counties. Relatives from Webster City were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bishop, Mrs. Will Bishop, Mrs. Jude Bingham, son and daughter. From Boone, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Ballard from Ames, Mrs. S. N. Kingsbury and son, from Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. L. Dickerson and daughter, from State Center, Mrs. Carrie Wilson.
Pallbearers were Blayney Johnson, Earl Allen, H. A. Meimann, Ora Sparrow, Art Veven and Henry Muschick.
