Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.
Marion T. Eacret, 92 of Ames, died May 29th, 2019 at Northridge Village after a long and fulfilling life. Visitation will be Monday, June 3rd 5-7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th at Adams. Burial with military honors to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Marion was born on Easter Sunday, April 17th, 1927 to Marshall E. and Lenora Tollefson Eacret in rural Story county. Marion served our country with the army from June 1945 to November 1946. He then came back to graduate high school in Nevada, class of 1947. Marion married Joyce M. (Wilson) Hiatt on December 3rd, 1973 and they enjoyed 45 loving years together. He worked for the City of Ames for 27 years and was a proud lifetime member of the Ames American Legion Post 37. Marion loved spending time with his large and extended family (especially winning at cards), tinkering in his garage, and cuddling with his grand dogs.
Marion will be remembered with love by his wife, Joyce, children Jeannie (Jerry) Shindler of Bloomfield, N.M., Ricard (Joyce) Eacret also of Bloomfield, N.M., Katie (Ron) Braasch of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Deanna) Hiatt, daughter in law Sherri Hiatt of Slater, Steve Hiatt of Rowley, and Kelly Hiatt of Waukee, 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jeff Hiatt.
