Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Anita Marie (Tjelmeland) Johnson, 68, of Story City died May 27, 2019 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Friday May 31 at 10:30 am at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will follow in the Roland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 at St. Petri Lutheran Church.

Anita Marie Johnson was born on April 2, 1951 in Ames, Iowa to Talmer and Stella (Enes) Tjelmeland. She worked as a technician at Bournes for many years and then as a supervisor at Greenbelt Home Care in Iowa Falls. Anita married Alan Johnson on October 12, 1985. She and Alan lived in Iowa Falls for 31 years until moving to Story City in 2018. Anita was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and she enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers, woodworking and finishing, family history, photographing old barns and traveling especially her trip to Norway.

Anita is survived by her husband Alan of Story City; four brothers, Norman (Vickie) Tjelmeland of Zearing, David (Patty) Tjelmeland of Clarksdale, AZ, Dale (Wendy) Tjelmeland of Nevada and Ron (Deb) Tjelmeland of Zearing and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carrol Tjelmeland, sister-in-law, Karen Tjelmeland and a nephew, Troy Tjelmeland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenbelt Humane Society in Iowa Falls, Iowa Public Television or Ellsworth Community College Caulkins Nature Area.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
