Phillip Lee Died Last Evening; Funeral Wednesday

Phillip Lee, 80, died at his home 1237 Tenth street, Nevada, Monday evening at 6 o'clock, following a year's illness during which time he had undergone a major surgical operation at the university hospital at Iowa City. Death was due to uremic poisoning.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:00 at St. Patrick's church, with his pastor Rev. Daniel A. Gorman in charge, after which the body will be taken to Petersville, in Clinton county, for burial by the side of the wife who died here December 13, 1923 and was taken to Petersville for burial.

The funeral party will leave here overland for Petersville immediately following the funeral mass at the church.

Phillip Lee was a native of New York state, where he was born on March 10, 1856. He came west when a young man and married to Miss Mary O'Meara, at Rock Valley on Thanksgiving day forty-seven years ago.

Ten years later they came to Nevada and this had since been the family home. For much of that time Mr. Lee was employed by the Northwestern Railway company, of later years in charge of the Main street signal gates.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lee, one of them passing away in infancy. The others are William P. Lee of 812 Fourth street, Nevada and Mrs. Anna Lee Horsman, who with her family has lived in the home with the father during the past year of so. Mrs. Lee died at the family home here December 13, 1923.

Besides the two children he leaves four grandchildren, Robert and Nadine Lee and Harry and Donald Horsman. There is also a younger brother Robert Lee of Melrose, Iowa, who visited here a short time ago.

Mr. Lee was a man of general acquaintance in Nevada and was highly respected by those who knew him as a man of industry and integrity and devoted to his home and family. He was a good neighbor and a thoughtful friend.
