From Nevada Representative November 3, 1920 (page 2)

OBITUARY

Jason Lincoln Billinds was born at Bitterford, Me., Nov. 20, 1861, and died at his home in McCallsburg, Ia., October 20, 1920, aged 58 years and 11 months.

When he was six years old his parents moved to Zumbrota, Minn., and later to Chelsea, finally south of Ames, bringing him with them.

He was of a family of six children, four boy and two girls.

November 7, 1882, he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine Johnston of near Nevada. To them were born six children, three boys and three girls. Of these, two are dead, Jessie Inez dying at the age of six weeks and Guy Earl at the age of ten years.

During his early married life he lived in a number of Iowa towns, but for 23 years previous to his death he had resided continuously in McCallsburg or vicinity.

His wife preceded him in death, having died March 15, 1916. He is survived by four children: Howard O., of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. Ray Nokes of Nevada, Ia.; Harry E. and Miss Anna J. of McCallsburg, Ia.

He has seven surviving grandchildren. Two of his brothers also survive; Albert of Hopkinton and Fred of Kansas.

Mir Billings united with the Evergreen U. B. church of Story county about thirty years ago and was a faithful and devoted member of it for a time. Several days before his death he renewed his faith in Christ and being comforted and strengthened by the word of God he approached death "like on who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams," and fell asleep in the Christian faith.

The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Ray. Music was furnished by a mixed quartette--Miss Woodcock, Mrs. Reid, Mr. Graves and Clarence Hanson. The many beautiful flowers sent by friends showed the sympathy felt for the family.

After services here, the remains were taken to Ames for interment by the side of the wife who preceded him.

Those present at the funeral from out of town were: Mr. Dick Lee of Beltraim, Minn., Mrs. Maud Schultz, Brooklyn, a nurse, Mrs. Mary Swit-Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Voght and son, of Shipley.

Card of Thanks

The children of Jason Billings take this way of thanking the people, both here and in Nevada, for the many acts of kindness during the sickness and death of their father; also for the beautiful flowers and the singers who furnished the music.--H. O. Billings, Mrs. Mary Nokes, H. E. Billings and Anna Billings.
