Bullard Funeral Services at Maxwell
Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, Feb. 22--Funeral services for the later Rufus Bullard, Sr., who passed away at his home Monday morning, were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. B. H. Guthrie of the Maxwell Presbyterian church in charge. Pall bearers were the grandsons of Mr. Bullard. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery by the side of his wife.Rufus Bullard, son of Daniel C. and Elizabeth Bullard was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, Sept. 30, 1845, and died in Maxwell Feb. 19, 1934 aged 88 years, 4 months and 19 days. He was the oldest of seven children. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Niles, Michigan where he grew to manhood. He was married to Ida F. Cox October 31, 1867 who preceded him in death in 1915. To this union three children were born, Miller, Gordon and Rufus Jr. He was a printer by trade and followed this profession until 1883 when he moved to Cambridge, Ia., where he conducted a hardware store until 1899. He then settled in Maxwell and has been in the grain business ever since.
There lives to mourn his passing his sons Gordon C. of Cambridge, and Rufus Jr., of Maxwell, his sister, Mrs. Ella McAllister of Minneapolis, Minn., his brother Daniel Bullard of Warrensburg, Mo., six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Relatives from a distance attending the services were Mrs. Chas. McAllister sister of Mr. Bullard, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Egbert and Mrs. Fred Olso of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. George Bullard of Zearing.
