Colo Chronicles.
Mrs. M. Nothomb died at her home north of town December 6, 1899, after a short illness with pneumonia. The funeral services were held in the Catholic church December 8 by Rev. Father Nichols, attended by a large number of sympathizing friends and the remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery. Mrs. Nothomb's maiden name was Alice Conlon. She was born in Tyrone, Ireland, in 1838, was married to Martin Nothomb to 1864, moved with her family from Illinois to Story county in 1875, locating north of Colo where they have made their home ever since. Mrs. Nothomb was the mother of five children, only one of whom, Henry Ed of Chicago, survives her, besides her husband and three sisters, Mrs. Cody* of this place, Mrs. Fagan* of Clarion and Mrs. Boyle of Ireland. She was of a kind disposition and beloved by all who knew her and a loving wife and mother. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their sad bereavement.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mary Conlin/Conlon was the wife of Michael Coady (not Cody as stated) and Cathren/Katherine Conlin/Conlon was the wife of John Fagan. Katherine Fagan's death certificate (her headstone gives her name as Cathren Fagan) names her father as Michael Conlin. No mother's name is given.
