AGED LADY DIED SATURDAY

Mrs. Charity Griffin, widow of the late S. F. Griffin, died Saturday morning at 10:00 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Jenson, a mile east of the city on Lincoln highway. The funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon at 2:00 after which interment will be in Nevada cemetery by the side of the body of her husband who died 12 years ago.

He husband, a soldier of the Civil war, came to Iowa at the close of the war, being a native of New York state. Mrs. Griffin was raised near LaPorte, Iowa and they settled near Nevada soon after their marriage, being residents first of thi city where the husband worked and later on a farm northeast of the city, where their family of seven children were raised.

After the death of the husband the wife moved to the city and lived in a cottage on Court avenue until about four years ago, when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Chris Jenson.

She leaves to mourn her death seven children and many grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Edith Bronson of Clarke, Nebraska, Delbert Griffin of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Ella Hines of Ames, Jasper Griffith of Bloomfield, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Elmore and Mrs. Alta Jenson of Nevada and Mrs. Alva Towne of northern Iowa.

Mrs. Griffin, who was about 75 years of age, had been in failing health for some years but on Wednesday of last week at the noon hour suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never rallied and she died as stated on Saturday forenoon at 10:00.

Mrs. Griffin was woman of many years fine characteristics. She was a good wife and kind and devoted mother, was deeply beloved by her children, grandchildren and other relatives and very highly respected by all who had her acquaintance.
