JESSE VASEY
COLLINS -- Funeral services were held for Jesse Vasey from the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. J. A Ogden of the Collins E.U.B. church officiating. Mrs. Florence Mead was at the organ and accompanied William Cochran and Milton Hale when they sang "Rock of Ages" and "Sometime We'll Understand."
Casket bearers were Robert Hand, Ralph Vasey, Albert Vasey, Leroy Battles, Forest Luing and Earl Atkinson.
Flowers were cared for by Till Mullihan and Myrtle Pritchard. Interment was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary
Jesse Fay Vasey, son of William and Ana Vasey, was born southwest of Collins in Jasper county April 12, 1878 and died in the Story County Hospital in Nevada Nov. 16,, 1958 at the age of 80 years, seven months and four days.
His boyhood and young manhood was spent near Collins with the exception of seven years spent in California.
He returned to Iowa an on April 3, 1920, he was united in marriage with Miss Myra Huntrods, who survives him. To this union were born two daughters the first of whom never lived and Norma Dell who is now Mrs. William Webb.
After his marriage the family lived on farms around Collins and they moved into Collins in the spring of 1940, and lived here until his death.
Jesse was hospitalized Oct. 2, first in Iowa City, later in Des Moines and finally in Nevada where his death occurred. When a young man he joined the Methodist Protestant church in Collins. He was in failing health the last few years of his life.
His survivors are his wife, Myra; the daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Webb of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Johnnie Earl and Lisa Lynn Webb, of Des Moines; two brothers, Charles G. Vasey and Raleigh J. Vasey both of Collins; one sister, Mrs. Clara Hand of Nevada and several nieces and nephews.
Out of state relative attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Angel and Miss Gladys Vasey of Austin, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Sam Westcott of Los Angeles, Calif., and others from Ames, Des Moines, Waterloo, Elkhart, Nevada, Melbourne, Fernald, Zearing, Colo, Mingo, McCallsburg, Maxwell and Collins.
