Obituary from Find A Grave (findagrave.com).

Lois A. Heintz Hamerton, 75, of Enumclaw, WA, went home to Jesus on Jan. 23, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Born Jan. 20, 1944, in Nevada, IA, Lois was the youngest daughter of the late Edward and Minnie (Hanson) Heintz. She was the wife of Robert Patrick Hamerton to whom she was married for 24 years.

Lois graduated from Nevada High School in 1962 where she and her many friends enjoyed being cheerleaders, participating in the choir, and working at Starbuck’s Drive-In every summer after she had turned 14. After graduation she attended the Iowa Academy of Beauty in Des Moines and earned her license to be a beautician.

Lois married Corwin Cuff in 1963 and the couple moved to Bettendorf, IA, where they welcomed their son Kelly in 1965. They soon relocated to Southern California where they welcomed their daughter Shannon in 1966. The next years were spent working and raising the family. In 1976 the family moved to the Seattle, WA, area where they ran a successful home business in the Silk Screen industry.

Later, after Lois and Corwin divorced, she met Pat Hamerton who was to become the love of her life, and to whom she was married in 1991. They ran several successful businesses in the Seattle area including the Crossings Clothing Stores and the famous Hot Dog Stand at the Boat Shows. Lois traveled with work and loved everyone with whom she came in contact. After retiring a few years ago to Enumclaw, WA, she stayed active in her community at the Senior Center, dancing, senior workouts, church, motorcycle rides, and always having a crossword puzzle at hand.

Lois was a people person and always had a hug or a tug on the beard for all she met. She loved her family and her hometown of Nevada, traveling “back home” through the years to see family and school chums. Mount Rainer Christian Church members will miss her hugs and enthusiastic worship. Her constant smile and positive attitude as she coped with ALS was a testimony to all who knew her. She will truly be missed by everyone who was fortunate to know and love her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Kelly Cuff in Spokane, WA; her daughter Shannon (Richard) Balmes of Veradale, WA; Pat’s children Barbara Hamerton in Florida and Sherry Simpson of Bellevue, WA; and many grandchildren of she and Pat; her sister Helen (Robert) DeFayette of Gettysburg, PA; sisters-in-law Jayne Heintz of Springfield, MO, and MaryAnn (Robert) Gardner of Nevada: and many, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Lois was predeceased by her beloved step-daughter Kelly, three brothers, and four nieces.

After cremation, interment will be private in Enumclaw. The family requests in lieu of flowers a contribution can be made in her name to a local ALS chapter.
