Obituary from Ames Monument & Cremation Center, Ames, Story County, Iowa.

Eldon "Marty" Martin, age 66, of Nevada, Iowa, died Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, at a later date. Condolences may be expressed online at www.amesmonument.com.

Born July 3, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, Eldon Dale Martin was the son of Clyde L. and Pauline M. (Sampson) Martin. He grew up and received his education in Mason City, and participated in Job Corps, where has was an amateur boxing champ. Marty then joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed in various capacities over the years, including as a computer hardware engineer.
He was married to Debra Walker on April 25, 1978, in Irving, Texas. She passed away on August 4, 2004.

On July 17, 2010, Marty married Belinda (Scavone) Curler at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Marty had a great sense of wonder and humor. He loved to dance, fish, and work with computers.

Survivors include his wife, Belinda; four children, Victor (Tracy) Melhus of Mason City, Angella (Earl) Barker of Mason City, Brenda Sinclair of Mason City, and Tina Martin of Texas; three step-children, William (Sandy) Curler of Cedar Rapids, Deborah (John Tyndall) Atluru of Georgia, and Patricia Curler of Bettendorf; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three step-great-granddaughters. He is also survived by a brother, James (Becky) Martin of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Peter Scavone of Nevada; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Scavone of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

In addition to his wife Debra, Marty was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clyde "Marty" Martin, Jr., a step-great-granddaughter, Nessa Holzhauser; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Scavone.
Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Marty and his family.
