Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Daniel Lee Thompson passed away peacefully on December 19, 2018 at the age of 68. Dan was born on July 19, 1950 in Ames, Iowa to C.P. and Gladys (Bush) Thompson. Dan was raised in Roland and attended Roland Community School and four years of elementary school at Milford Township School. Following high school graduation in 1969, Dan lived in Des Moines and worked at Goodwill Industries for a number of years.

Dan looked forward to spending weekends in his hometown of Roland and enjoyed his home cooked meals. He was an ardent fan of his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, particularly basketball, and diligently followed the latest recruits. Recycling was a special of special interest to Dan and he would routinely recycle what he found on the paths of his daily walks. Local and world news were of utmost importance to Dan and he made sure he did not miss reading the daily newspapers and watching daily newscasts.

Dan is survived by his brothers, Richard (Carole Kelly) Thompson of Auckland, New Zealand and Larry (Connie) Thompson of Bluffton, SC; his sister, Karen (Bruce) Strother of Barrington, IL; niece Alyson (Mark) Vetrovec of Parker, CO; a nephew, Scott Strother of Denver, CO and grand nieces, Lauryn and Keri Vetrovec.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
