Funeral Services Held For Sarah E. Williams Wednesday Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. E. J. (Sarah) Williams were held Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p. m. from the Ryan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery. Rev. Victor Hackbarth of Memorial Lutheran Church was in charge of the funeral services.
Fred McLain sang two hymns "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Leslie Henderson was at the organ.
Pallbearers were stepsons of the deceased: John, Howard, Fred, Ralph and Elmer R. Williams and Samuel Switzer, Jr., husband of a stepdaughter.
Obituary
Sarah Edna Rice was born Aug. 31, 1994, the daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth Rice, in Nevada, Iowa. In 1920 she was united in marriage to Lars Jenson, who died in 1927. On Aug. 31, 1933, she was united in marriage to Elmer J. Williams.
She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church where she was active in all church activities as long as her health permitted. She had been in failing health for a number of years. Her death occurred Sunday morning at 10:20 at her home, 1326 Third Street.
Survivors are the husband, Elmer J. and the following stepchildren: John Williams, Anamosa; Howard Williams, Garden Grove, Calif.; Fred Williams, Norwalk, Calif.; Ralph Williams, Anaheim, Calif.; Elmer R. of Nevada; Berneice (Mrs. Marvin Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; Geraldine (Mrs. Edward Douke), Los Angeles; and Zanita (Mrs. Sam Switzer, Jr.), Nevada. Fifteen grandchildren cousins, Mrs. Edith Shugart and Arthur Banks also survive. She was preceded in death by her parent, a sister and brother.
