Obituary.
George W. Wakeman was born at Seward, Neb., Oct. 7, 1874 and died at Nevada, Iowa, Friday at 2:50 a. m., Nov. 22, 1895, at the residence of R. S. Wakeman. George's father was a brother of R. S. Wakeman and he has lived in their home ever since his second year. Mr. and Mrs. Wakeman have loved him as their son. The boy has grown up in Nevada, in her public schools and her Sunday schools. He was a quiet and retiring nature. In January last he suffered a severe attack of rheumatism which resulted in valvular trouble of the heart. In July last the heart trouble was renewed and he sank very low but rallied. Four weeks ago complications of la grippe set in from which he could not rally. Death came as a relief to a very great sufferer. In his last sickness he passed through a very great transition in his moral condition, became very resigned and happy. He sang often lines of "Sweet Bye and Bye" and spoke of the joy that awaited him in the heavenly home. The funeral was conducted at the Wakeman home at 2 p. m. Saturday by Rev. Horswell assisted by Rev. Sanborn. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.
