Funeral Services For Mrs. Satre Held In Sunset Chapel and St. Petri's

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 13, for Mrs. John Satre in Story City.

The Rev. Pernie C. Pederson spoke at the service at the Story City Sunset Home Chapel at 1:30 p.m. and services were held at 2 p.m. in St. Petri Lutheran Church with Pastor George C. Srum officiating.

Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, organist accompanied the audience as they sang "Come to Calvary's Holy Mountain." Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang "O Tank Naar Engarg Samles Skall" and at the close of the service "Softly Now the Light of Day."

Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pall bearers were Andrew Enderson, Garvin Olson, Terman T. Satre, Hilford Satre, Hilford Olson and Dwayne Hill.

Life Sketch

Sophie Randine Oppedal Satre was born in Sogne, Norway on June 1, 1870. Two and one-half years later she came to the United States with her parents.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Norway and was confirmed in St. Pauls Lutheran Church at Jewell.

On March 5, 1891 she was united in marriage to John H. Satre. Six children were born to this union.

The Satres lived in the Stanhope community until 1941 when they moved to Story City. After the death of Satre ten years ago, Mrs. Satre entered the Sunset Home where she died March 9 at the age of 90 years.

Survivors include six children: Elmer (Iva) Jay Fardal, Helmer Satre and Julius Satre all of Stanhope, Theodore Satre of Des Moines, Mrs. Guy (Hazel) Wicks and Miss Pearl Satre, both of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, two sisters and one brother.
